travailler a la ferme

so... what have we spent the past month doing?

every day we wake with the sun, matthew feeds and waters the boars, sows, and piglets
lu feeds to the rams, ewes, and bunnies
then we meet at the chicken coops to tend to the chickens and ducks

then there is a daily project until lunch, which could be any of the following:
moving grain
milling grain
harvesting wood
chopping wood
creating a drain by smashing old roofing and bricks with a sledgehammer
weed whacking
raking

harvesting the garden

planting the garden

burning things that shouldn't be on the farm
killing things that shouldn't be on the farm  (organically) (matthew=expert)
building pig enclosures and transporting pigs to them (yes, you should carry them by their feet, if you grab them gently around their bellies they squeal and mama sow WILL break down the door to reclaim her babies)


afternoon activities include:
reading and writing
jumping on the trampoline with the kids
weaving
making cheese and yogurt
baking
lu trying to investigate graduate school programs and set up meetings
egg collecting
studying french
